January Astrology Forecast
Happy (calendar) New Year everyone! And welcome to the January 2023 forecast!
While this month may start with a little less energy than we may have hoped for (but with a powerful aspect!), three planets station direct this month, meaning that by the end of the month ALL planets will be moving forward (which hasn’t happened since April!) - a welcome sign of momentum and forward movement returning. But still requiring our time and patience as we manoeuvre through Capricorn season and into Aquarius. There are times of sudden breakthroughs (and possibly breakdowns) and shaking up what has become too rigid or stuck. Venus powers through Aquarius and lands in Pisces for a dreaminess that may have been missing - among much more!

January 1 - Venus in Capricorn conjunct Pluto in Capricorn
Here we become our own inner detective into the parts of ourselves, into our relationships, that empower us - and those that don't. There can feel an intensity of feelings, an unearthing of unbalanced power dynamics, an exploration of the relationships that fuel you with depth and soul, of transformations around pleasure and where and when you feel it most. And what structures need to be in place to be able to feel it most. If it feels intense, if it feels that structures are crumbling rather than being built, remember that a skin that may no longer fit you is wanting to be shed - and that's one hell of an uncomfortable process. But what lies beyond is worth ever cringe worthy moment.
January 2 - Venus enters Aquarius
Venus enters Aquarius and wants to connect, connect, connect! Here we place more focus on our chosen tribes, on our communities and collectives and the joy and pleasure they give us. Of the joy and pleasure drifting into our hopes and dreams for the future can nourish us with. It's a time to love and honour our uniqueness and shout it loud and clear - so that all those looking for their tribe can hear it. It's a time to rock on with your bad self and not give AF, basking in the beauty of your eccentricities - remembering that the world needs it.
January 5 - Sun in Capricorn trines Uranus in Taurus
Here we're encouraged to show up as our true selves. To shine bright and unabashedly exactly how we are, to do our work exactly how we envision it. It's a day that wants us to remember how much we have to offer - especially when bringing our unique gifts to the world. It can come with sudden insights into your hero/heroine’s journey and a new way to move forward. It's a day to keep your head above the clouds and look towards the future for all that awaits you.
January 6/7 - Cancer Full Moon - stay tuned for the moon musing!
January 7 - Mercury (retrograde) in Capricorn conjunct Sun in Capricorn (cazimi/ inferior conjunction)
Retrograde Mercury meets up with the Sun and we're invited to pay attention to any messages or insights that leave you feeling grounded. Stable. Supported. Flash insights or conversations that illuminate the road ahead and your place on it. A great day to reflect, write, call your bff and remember that we're still in the slower retrograde energy, so get comfortable asking the questions without maybe having the answers just yet.
January 12/13 - Mars stations direct
You made it! For the first time since October, Mars starts moving forward again and we (still slowly!) come out of this retrograde period. Still in Gemini (and its retrograde shadow) until March, we're still contemplating and digesting our personal journey, but there may be more energy and momentum felt again. Maybe at times a little TOO much energy and scatteredness felt ;) Reflect back to August - Oct and what was happening in your life then, how your energy felt. There may be a revisiting of these themes over the next couple months.
January 14/15 - Venus in Aquarius squares Uranus in Taurus
Unexpected revelations, out of the blue encounters and earth shattering 'wait…what?!' moments can be felt. A need to disrupt what has felt rigid or stuck and bring a freshness in may take centre stage. An unpredictable, maverick energy enters to leave you on your toes. A restlessness may bubble to the surface and leave you wanting change now - in your relationships, in your relationship to your self. But remember that anything entering or leaving your life is for your ultimate evolution - which doesn't always mean that it's easy. But it's necessary!
January 18 - Mercury stations direct
Mercury stations direct and we begin to compile any learnings from our retrograde journey. We begin to return to the path ahead and Mercury wanting us to forge ahead on it. Of less chaos and miscommunications and rather a renewed commitment to our personal journeys. A time to implement any findings from what may have emerged over the last weeks and how they will support you in laying the most solid foundations for what you want in your life.
Sun in Capricorn conjunct Pluto in Capricorn
Power. Desire. Grief. Loss. Rebirth. Just some of the themes that may be illuminated when the Sun and Pluto meet up in the sky. We enter our own underworlds where our inherent wealth lies - but sometimes there's a three-headed barking dog or two at the gate. We shine a blazing light into the depths of ourselves - for better or for more challenging. Where we've come from and just how far we've come. Where there is pain and suffering that still needs a tender hug. The remembrance that suffering can be our most profound gateway into empowerment. The illumination into just how powerful we actually are.
January 20 - Sun enters Aquarius
The sun enters Aquarius and we break loose from the structured path we walked in Capricorn. Here there is an energy of wanting to share and connect with others - to bask in your (and other's) dreams and hopes for the future no matter how fantastical - especially if they're fantastical! A desire to collaborate with likeminded souls, of allowing your higher consciousness to be your guide. A time of wanting to know, to understand - and to disrupt the status quo by shattering any preconvceived notions that are holding you captive. To let our inner rebel rise and fight for what matters most.
January 21/22 - Aquarius New Moon - stay tuned for the moon musing!
Jan 22 - Uranus stations direct
Having been retrograde since August, Uranus stations direct and has all planets moving forward again - a welcome relief for those who have been feeling stuck. Uranus moves ahead and returns us to valuing showing up as our unique selves in this world. Making space for grounding into who we are and honouring our eccentricities as our most valuable gifts.
January 26/27 - Venus enters Pisces
After a brief jaunt in Aquarius, Venus enters dreamy Pisces and lets our desires and fantasies simmer to the surface. Here there is a deep desire to connect, to even merge with another. To merge with the Oneness of life and bask in its comfort and love. A time for romance and flirtation and seeing the world through rose-coloured glasses. Of remembering the beauty and magic that permeates every being in this world. That permeates our very soul.
January 28 - Sun squares Nodes (North Node in Taurus, Sorth Node in Scorpio)
We meet a tension point in our journeys. Our inner heroine/hero at a crossroads of which way to go - to the safe and familiar path we know so well, or to the one that becokens us deeply from a voice within. We can feel like an imposter in our actions, of our place in this world, craving the safety and security of what's familiar. But the deep voice that beckons us is the source of our greatest growth if we can only remember our own strength to walk the unfamiliar path.
January 29 - Mercury in Capricorn trines Uranus in Taurus
Mercury and 'The Great Awakener' support each other today in bringing our thoughts and insights into reality. Of grounding the buzzing ideas in order to make them real. It's a day of potential insights and revelations, of speaking our truth fully and freely. And/or... of a buzziness and restlessness that leaves our nervous systems feeling on the fritz! Leaving us needing to bring ourselves back down to earth, priortizing slowing down, especially if you’re feeling resistant to it!
