Musings on the Aquarius Full Moon
Happy full moon in Aquarius everyone!
A couple weeks ago I was staring out across the lake at my cottage, watching these ducks flutter and swim about, seemingly loving life with the endless supply of lily pads available to them. Despite having just received a 'tornado warning' for the area I was in, I continued to sit outside and watch these ducks (I've always felt I was born an 80 year old man) until in a flash the weather shifted.
I have been at my cottage for many storms, but I've never seen one come in so quickly and powerfully. Just like that, you couldn't see a foot in front of you the rain was so heavy. Then the tornado-esque winds started and hoy boy! Trees looked as if they had become horizontal, winds pounded the rickety cottage and for the first time I can remember at the cottage, I felt scared.
As I gave myself a much needed reality check that it probably wasn't super safe to watch the storm from outside, I managed to make something out in the lake through the rain. It was the ducks! They had come from all their different corners and had banded together in one small huddle. They were getting pummelled with rain and wind, and yet remained in this close-knit group, literally weathering the storm.
Enter, Aquarius. Aquarius is the sign of the visionary, of what is possible when you think outside the box. But Aquarius is also the sign associated with the collective, with groups of people ranging from friends to coworkers to institutions. And as ever, taking my cue from nature, these ducks reminded me of the power of the collective.
When the rumblings of the storm started to approach, the ducks came from all their different corners, stopped whatever they were doing and banded together. Instinctively knowing that they would be safer all huddled together. That if they were going to make it through this potential tornado, they couldn't do it alone. Ok yes, I don't speak duck (...yet) but a girl can infer ;)
When I worked in an office, part of the fun was the employees banding together against the 'evil tyrant boss' (or were those just my shitty work situations haha??). We would talk in whispers as they walked by, rolling our eyes or using our lunch breaks to let the epic bitchfest that had been building to finally be heard by someone who "got it". And I think that's part of the magic of any type of collective, you're surrounding yourself with likeminded people, people who "get it", whatever 'it' is. But I wouldn't have made it through those long days without the collective around me, making me laugh or reminding me that this didn't have to be my future.
Aquarius teaches us this - that as the old saying goes, there's strength in numbers. That when like-minded people band together, they have a much better chance of weathering whatever figurative storm they're in. Bringing their unique gifts, their unique selves to the situation, knowing that for these wildly beautiful Aquarian visions to come to fruition, it takes a collective.
My dear friend Mila is owning this so hard. She is Canadian-born, daughter to immigrant parents from Haiti and Ghana, and a mother of two. After the death of George Floyd and the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement, she told me that she would be disappointed in herself if years from now her daughters asked what she did to contribute to the BLM movement and all she could answer was that she posted on Instagram. It was then she decided to create her own grassroots organization, SESA Collective*.
This is a volunteer-based collective, providing free business growth services to BIPOC entrepreneurs. She put out the call and interested volunteers offered whatever services they had to contribute, ranging from business mentorship to photography to marketing consulting to administrative assistance. We all saw what we could give and offered it to the collective. We banded together to weather the (systemic racism) storm. Does it come as any surprise that Mila has an Aquarius moon in her astrology chart? ;)
So with this full moon, revel in the awesome power of the collectives you may be a part of! This could be anything - the book club, the wine club. Creative artists, the yoga community, high school friends, mom's on the block, dungeons and dragons fanatics. What-the-fuck-ever! But remember how goooood it can feel when you band together with those of similar values, interests, histories or dreams. That even when, especially when you're feeling down, there might be someone in your collective ready to support you. That, taking a cue from those ducks, put you in the middle of the group to protect you from the harshness of what's surrounding you at that moment. Knowing that you would do the same for them when their personal storm hits.
So as these moon musings have inadvertently become a collective, I just want to say THANK YOU for being part of a collective that spans countries, ages and sun signs ;) You are all part of my dreamy Aquarian visions for my future, and for that, I am eternally grateful!
Now back to my duck watching.
Xx Faye
